I this case, it would take way too much time and money just to sell one car.
Your car is capable of getting 23 MPG. The things that affects mileage the most is the type of driving you do (city versus highway) and
your driving habits.
A local TV station did a short "test trip" (probably less than 20 miles) in a 2009 Lincoln MKS. The difference between the first trip where the reporter was driving "normal" and the second trip where a Ford engineer was telling him how maximize fuel economy (lots of coasting, timing traffic signals, slow acceleration, etc) netted almost 6 MPG better (using the dash display).
