Post Keyless Entry Engine Start

howdy!

New to the ford forum. Just purchased a 2001 Expedition w/ 60k from a dealer. Real nice, as I have been a Ford / Lincoln / Mercury man all my life.

I used the original code and was programming in my own code (or at least trying to) and remembered there was a key you press after you type in the original code, then type in your new one. I also know there is a key to press to open all doors rather than just the drivers. So, while pressing keys-o-plenty, all of a sudden, the engine STARTED!! It scared the cr*p out of me as it was certainly unexpected. I couldnt shut the engine down with the keypad, or with the keychain clicker. So I opened the door, sat in the truck, and when I pressed the brake (to shift the gear) it shut off.

I was able to reproduce it 2 more times, but dont know the exact sequence. It has to do with entering the original code twice, and then the #3/4 key somewhere...
Has anyone else come across this? Does anyone know what the true functionality is with the keypad? Obviously, its a lot more than manual says.

Anyone? Anyone?
