Unhappy 91 F150 4X4 Clutch Problem

I have a mouse nest that has been sucked up onto my clutch plate?? The clutch got progressively worse to the point that it hardly stops slipping. I hadn't driven the truck in quite a while since I only use it for hauling firewood and mulch. But when I started driving it, after about 15 minutes, it started slipping something terrible. (I have spent 4 - 5 hours laying on my back in my damp garage trying to pick out as much of the nest as I can, but it hasn't made much of a difference. I guess it's wound around something so tight that it's preventing the clutch from engaging. Any thoughts on how a non-mechanically inclined guy can solve the problem without having to have it towed to a shop where they'll have to drop the transmission to do the work. A friend of mine estimated the shop time on something like that at about 4.5 - 5.2 labor hours. I need help. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, I just need to know what might work.
