I'm having this issue too, any responses on the fix short of replacing the tranny? Will have to get into it myself since I've have bad experences with dealerships. My first thought is to check fluid levels of transmission and look for wiring issues under steering column cover. If no issues then start looking for evidense of water leaks under dash panel fusebox and gem module area, looks like the ford expedition (99-01) have this issue of leaking windshields most likely because of the design.
Was servicing my wifes car today and found mice just starting to eat through the main wire bundle harness protective covering. Moved the car out side to work on it and actually saw the fricken mouse run off. Because of the cold they come up into the engine after it has been parked a while to keep warm.

In your opinion is this more likely to be caused by a sensor or computer problem or a symptom of a larger transmission issue? The check engine light is also on.
Thanks for your thoughts.
