 98 Ford Contour brake light/turn signal/shift lock problem
A brake light bulb burned out, but the bulb was stuck. Didn't disconnect the battery trying to get it out, and blew the fuses. Also, then the car wouldn't go into gear. A kind local shop mechanic said the blown fuses probably also caused gear shift lock, and replacing them would fix it. So, replaced the brake lamp fuses, car went into gear, no problem. But, the turn signals and hazard lights wouldn't work. So, found a blown fuse in the power distribution box which made the hazard lights come on, but it immediately blew again, also blew the brake light fuses again, and the car wouldn't go into gear again. Replaced the brake light fuses again, but the car still won't go into gear, and still no turn signals or hazard lights. Help? |
