Having a similar problem with a 98 Contour GL 2.0 automatic. Stuck in park and heater would not work. After a while of fiddleing around the heater started to work and the shift lever was not stuck anymore. A little later the heater quit and the turn signals would not work. After a half an hour in the driveway I looked it over and could not find anything that did not work and it would shift
