Exclamation 2005 Expedition - Air Vent Odor-HELP!

Whenever I turn on the air vent (not necessarily the AC) and/or the AC I initially get this terrible sour smell (like smelly old sweat socks) through my air vents. After driving for 5 minutes it seems to go away (or just gets very faint) only to return the next time I start the vehicle. What could this be? My passengers and I have to roll the windows down it is so bad. It is really disgusting. Does anyone have any thoughts. Thanks!
