Default 2000 Expedition wouldn't start?

Hello everyone! This is my first post here, seems to be alot of good advice so wanted to ask everyone a question. I did try to search the forums a bit to see if my question was answered first, but alas no luck.

The other day my expedition would not start. Funny thing was that the oil pressure/engine coolant light was on and the odometer had nothing but ----- on the display. These two things were on even though there was no key in the ignition. The expedition would turn over trying to start, but wouldn't. This was first thing in the morning, the truck had sat all night, so it wasn't hot.

I called two Ford delerships and talked with the maintenance department at both locations. The first place asked if the "Theft" light was on, I said no, which it wasn't. Then he said there may be rodent problems, but he wasn't for sure and that I should have it towed in to have it looked at. The second shop didn't know either and said i should do the same.

Well I looked for chewed wires, checked fuses, checked water level in radiator tank, and oil. My inspection turned up nothing. I gave up for the time being and went to bed. Later that day when i got up I went to check again, not wanting to give up and to my surprise the lights were off and truck was able to start. Since then its been about a week with no problems.(Thankfully) Though I am worried that I may be out and about and same thing would happen again leaving me and family stranded.

If anyone has helpful info it would be greatly appreciated....Thanks
