Default Help!

My uncle has left his 1991 Ford Festiva 5 speed manual in the garage for a little over 10 years now. No one in the family knows how to drive standard or bothered to learn, but i am almost getting my license and plan to take it. The other day me and my dad tried to go out and get it started. It want to start so we tried pourin some gas down the carborator. While this did start the car for a while it died again. I got advice from a mechanic and he said that i may still have some old oil sitting at the bottom but lost its use. Or may be something wrong with the gas pump not being able to pump the gas back up, does anyone know how i can fix this? Thanx in advance.
