Brakes & SuspensionBrakes are one of the most common mechanical problems that plague any vehicle. Post all questions related to brakes drums, pads and plates. Brakes might be easy but suspension problems can be a real pain. Post those questions here as well and get an answer!
A couple of weeks a go I hit my front right tire against a curb. Wasn't going too fast but the wheel took the brunt of the last bit of momentum. (Someone cut me off and I had to brake/swerve to avoid them.)
The tire pressure held, even tough the rim took some minor damage. After doing realignment and rotation there is still a vibration and thumping noise that is coming from the front right. It's not the rim or tire (that's been replaced) so my guess it is some part of suspension. I only hear the noise at speeds about 50mph (on the freeway) and can feel extra vibration coming through the gas pedal.
When I take it in the shop to get examined I'd like to be more aware of what the problem might be. So if a wheel sustained a low speed impact like that, and I now have an abnormal vibration, what part would be the most vulnerable. It's a standard 1998 Ford Mustang.
You could of bent a tie-rod end or some other suspension part. It is really hard to say what could be wrong. Even though the alignment is right I would have them recheck it and do a road test with you.
