Not sure if this should be in electrical or brakes & suspension...
My ABS light was intermittently turning on and off (started around 50k miles, now have 130k) and now its on all the time. I checked the van with an OBDII tool, which told me I had 11 stored codes in the ABS module. I don't have the Ford specific module, so I have no idea what the codes are. At the same time, my speedo started acting up, so I was checking other issues as well. The interesting thing I found was that the wheel speed sensors all appeared to be working, BUT they were showing the speed wrong. All four sensors acted the same, showing the actual speed (from GPS and VSS, in mph) in the Km/h display. In other words, the display on the scan tool showed speed for all four sensors in both mph and kph; the actual vehicle speed (in mph) was shown in the kph column, with the mph column showing ~60% of actual.
My gut is that there's something wrong with the ABS module itself. Has anyone else seen similar symptoms? Or does anyone have experience with these ABS modules?
If one of those codes was 1185 you need a new ABS module. That indicates an internal relay failure. That's why you have all the other codes as well. The module can't see the wheel sensors and the valves. I think the 2000 is a plug and play module with no programing needed. It's under the vehicle on top of the HCU. Be careful of the lines.
