I spent the weekend swapping out an AOD transmission for a T5 in a 93 mustang LX for a friend. Recently whenever I drove the car, I noticed a very audible hissing noise whenever I applied the brakes. I suspect the brake booster is leaking or a vacuum line. The car has a bit of a rough idle, but I'm not aware of any installed performance parts that would have given the car the rough idle intentionally. The car owner says that the brakes function but not extremely well. So now I have the following questions:
1) Do these symptoms point to a leaky brake booster?
2) Were there any vacuum lines that were well known for leaking? (basically I ask this to avoid chasing down the leak)
