Default Exterior Plastic Parts / Protectant

I could spend an hour or so putting Armor All on all the exterior plastic on my Escape, then within a week, it looks like I've been neglecting it for years. What gives? Has anybody found anything that actually lasts? Also, with Armor All I get a lot of streaking, for example when I apply it to the door handles, it streaks all down the door after a few days. Has anybody found a better product? I'm not looking for a showroom shine or anything, just something to keep the black parts actually looking black.

That's always been my problem with Armor All. Not only is it prone to leave an uneven sheen (unnatural in most cases), but it also seems more a dirt magnet than anything else.

So to echo rwall, what are some (just one) good interior products that not only leave an area or part looking clean and natural, but protect it as well? My emphasis is with the latter. We all know what happens to modern vinyl dashes after expansion under a hot sun, and the contraction that follows hours later.
So ... What's a product that keeps vinyl dashboards soft and pliable, thus delaying or halting their penchant for cracking?

Thanks. I'd really like this answered.

I personally use ADAM's car care products: Adam's Polishes

a bit pricey and some times they only sell certain items as kits but so far i've seen it work wonders for my car(s) (especially the trucks)

those are my two cents!

...Maybe I'll get an answer to this question: Is there a way or product that removes superficial surface scratches on chrome (rims specifically)?

Thanks.

Back-to-Black by Mothers is generally pretty good on that type of body cladding, so long as it's not too faded.

Apply to the panels with a microfiber or cotton terry applicator, and then go around and apply some more if necessary. Let it penetration for a bit, then buff any residue with a clean cotton terry. Avoid washing or rain for a couple of days, or you may need to reapply, but otherwise it's about the best out there. Most auto parts stores stock it for about 5 or 7 bucks.
