Default Ford Explorer concept

Quad-Cities Online
"The most radical change: The Explorer America concept is built on a more car-like unibody frame"

It's the end of the explorer as we know it. It is nothing more than a glorified minivan now. It shouldn't bear the name "explorer"

Its...like..a minivan

There's a place I know about, where the dirt road runs out, and we can try out the 4 wheel drive..come on now, what do you say?
I've got the perfect place in mind, it's in the middle of nowhere, only one way to get there, you got to get a little mud on the tires.

I wonder if they are trying to make it a more "family" oriented car and get more mothers interested in this vehicle? Looks like the sliding door as apposed to the standard way the doors open now would help with child seats?

I really like the new look, but not to sold on the sliding door.

Looks nice, an improvement over the current Explorer in looks. I like the sliding door and a 3,500 lb towing capacity is ok but a bit low.

Ford would need to differentiate this vehicle from the Taurus X and upcoming Flex so towing capacity would do that.

I tried the current Explorer and it isn't a good fit for me.

...it's a minivan

very futuristic, I like the looks but I hope they fix the gas-hog status of current SUVs.

My biggest problem is it's unibody frame. They have taken out it's heart. The explorer has always been a capable SUV up until now. It just takes out the "truck"ness of it. And I feel that that is a key part in being an Explorer.

Not only that, but the live axle. I know they did away with it in the 02 year, and it makes me sad. And 3500 lbs. is pathetic. My ex can tow atleast 6400 i believe is the rating. Yea its a gas hog, but i plan on fixing that. There is a guy on Explorer forum who achieved 34 MPG in an explorer eddie edition!! (Aldive). So its possiable..... just hard!

I cant say that i like it... i dont think you could really trade the so loved explorer of today for that. If they wanted to make a minivan then make one. not turn one of the best truck/suv ever into a minivan.

Why did they go and do this? I love Ford, but I don't really like their newer overall planning of car direction/design. Is it just me that much prefers cars before 1990? I like the new Flex platform but I do not think it should be the base of all their cars.

I don't like it. I hope it stays just that a concept. I liked the explorer for the SUV quality, (look, apeal) not quite a truck not quite a mini van. The concept is now a minivan on steroids ... maybe Baseball players will like it though!

Default 95 Explorer (PROBLEM W/DRIVER'S WINDOW STUCK IN DOWN POSITION)

I have a 95 Explorer 4 dr/2wh drive and the driver's window is stuck in the down position. I need help figuring out with part to replace in order to fix it. The guys at the part store said it's either the switch (which still click when pressed) or the regulator. I'm open for all suggestions.

Thanks!
