I presently live in Europe and have the new 2008 Ford Ranger Thunder 4x4 2.5 liter diesel. This truck is sooooo far ahead of what we have in America. I wish they would bring it there, looks great, enough power, great on fuel...Leather interior....would give Toyota a decent run I think.

Wow that sounds Awesome. We have to wait until 2011 to get a new ranger.

Have you heard if it's going to be the same as the new 08 Europeen model Ranger? This is the first year for the new redisigned model here in Europe. It is only available here with a five speed manual and there is no cruise control. People here can almost all drive a stick shift and most prefer it. Because of the traffic and most roads too not in as good a shape as in the USA most cars don't have cruise either although I think that they should atleast offer it as an option. Look at Ford UK and you can see the new Ranger there. The reviews have been fantastic also. If they offer a automatic transmission (atleast a 5 speed) as an option and cruise control as standard they would have a Grand Slam in the US. Nobody has anything like this in North America and with the costs of fuel it would be hard to find one on a dealers lot.

Ford said the 5th gen Ranger will be available globally,so when the European Ranger gets freshened that refresh will come to the USA,UK...........

Just out of curiosity. Does the current European Ranger come with 4WD that can be used on dry pavement?

This is the brand new model, can't see it being refreshed in just three years. I don't believe you can drive on pavement while in 4x4. It's also not a push button 4x4, there's the shift lever beside the normal transmission. It has a 5 spd manual and you don't need a 6. I can't put it into 5th untill 55 MPH. Maybe if they did have a 6 speed the towing would be easier though.

Ford said the life cycle for all ford vehicles have been lowered to 2 to 3 years between freshenings.

Ranger is one of my favorite. Even they may costs a lot, be sure this model will be worth it. Hope they can tell us the added features and maybe some pics of it soon.

Just checked what I am getting for fuel mileage of my diesel Ranger. 90% city driving, 27 MPG.....I think that's great. I look forward to a long distance hwy trip to see what the mileage will be like then. It's funny that I am hearing about people in North America crying the blues over the increases in fuel costs, I understand that as before I came to live in Turkey I always did also. What's funny is that the costs in Europe for fuel are MUCH higher then in America. Even Canada has much higher fuel costs. To give you an example, I pay around $9.50 a gallon for diesel. Regular unleaded costs more then diesel in Europe, used to be that way in North America also. People are complaining about $4.00 a gallon for gas, here it is just shy of $11.00 a gallon. Hard to believe isn't it.
