40 mpg is a serious exaggeration unless, especially for a 4,000 lbs vehicle like the new Explorer. Even in a Fusion, which weighs 3,000-3500 lbs, I do not believe it will get 40 mpg, even on the highway.

FYI, the V6 EcoBoost engine needs to use the "recommended" premium fuel to achieve its power and fuel economy numbers (as stated in the company's brochures).

This may be the first car (ever) to deliver specs that I am actually amazed and proud of, glad to see a blue oval on the front of the car this time!!!

I hope this thing comes out and becomes very successful!

Big rumor is that this engine will premier in the "new" FWD/AWD unibody Explorer, built opn the same platform as the the Taurus and Flex. Both of those vehicle weigh 4300-4500 lbs. Unless the Explorer comes in at about 500 lbs less, that engine will be barely "adequate".

agreed. i'm assuming these will end up eventually on the focus, fusion, fiesta, since it will need to produce a lot of torque for the heavier cars/suv's/

The 2.0L EcoBoost may show up in the Fusion. Look for a 1.6L EcoBoost for the Focus. Too expensive for Fiesta.
