I have a 97 Ranger, 4 cyc 2.3 2wd. Recently the wipers have failed to work at all and the dome lights won't go out. I've done some Googling and from what I read, it might be the GEM Module.
I have checked all the fuses...all good. Any thoughts?
the door switch is the problem with the dome light, it is located in the door on the latch. the wipers are probably a bad wiper switch. The switch is called multi function as it controls wiper turn signals and high beam lights. both are easy repairs not requiring any special tools.
In addition to the things that have been suggested, check your chasis ground. I know it sounds crazy, but a bad ground can give you all kinds of strange manifestations. Pull the ground off the chasis, make sure it is clean to both sides, reinstall it, and then give it a coating of spray on grease and see if it makes a difference.
