Turns out my problem was a wiring problem in the tank where the wiring harness plugs into the pump itself. Took on the job of changing the fuel pump as a last resort and am very glad that I did. The wires appear to be more burnt than skinnedLike the wires were to small for the load they were carring, but could not really tell.

At any rate it could have lead to a major disaster at some point and am very glad that I spent the $125.00 and the 4 hours to get it changed out by myself with the help of a floor jack to support the tank. I would however suggest somthing I did not do and that is to insure the tank is empty first. It was wary heavy and ackward trying to put the tank back into place with even only fourth of a tank in it. Good luck in anything you set out to do on your own!

Would post a picture of the wires but do not know how to it asked for a url of which lost me
