Default 96 contour

the alternator has 2 plug-in connections (which are impossible to screw up where they go) it also has the main power connection which goes over the stud on the back of the alternator... unfortunately, there is another wire which has a similar connector on it (looks like it is made for a post connection)... and I cannot for the life of me remember if both the connection were on the alternator or if one was just grounded to one of the alternator mounting bolts.

hope this is clear....

Default update...

I should also note that I have attached a multimeter to the wire and to the negative side of the battery (battery was disconnected from car at the time) and I received a reading of 10 ohms... does this mean the wire is a ground??

thanks

...update.. got the car running with the mystery wire isolated (taped off so it wont ground out) ... the multimeter indicated that the battery was not being charged.... so... this wire is needed to send power back to the battery??
