Default 98 ford windstar fuel gauge

My 98 ford windstar fuel gauge is pegged past full. Is it the gauge, in tank sending unit or anti-slosh???? What is the correct ohm reading for the gauge if I remove it to check, or am I wasting my time with that???

It could be the Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator (IPVR). I don't know exactly where is is located.

It is easy to test with a 12v test light once you do locate it. There should be 2 wires goinf to it. With in Key in On/Run one wire should 12V, the other pulsing. It not, its bad.

Fuel gauge
Hey all, Fuel gauge pegged above full? There is a common problem with some of the sending unit assemblies. The ohms test is 16 ohms is empty, to 160 ohms full, and you might find that its reading about 185 or so? problem is you might need the sending unit, and Ford as well as part houses will tell you , you need to buy the complete assembly, 1) fuel pmp, 2) sending unit w/ float assembly 3) wiring harness, and call it the can.
Ford could not sell me sending unit......alone. But Kragen on line, Parts America........
sent me a huge box and due to its size, I thought they made a mistake and sent me the
whole assembly, but in the box was another smaller box labled : From Ford Motor Company, to me on the address slip. It was a factory sending unit & $69.00 was the price.
I pulled the tank and fuel pump can and found the wire that clips onto the pump assembly was off. Replace the clips and secure it to the shop. I reconnected my wire
to the sending unit with a new clip and It fixed it. The pump sending unit was returned for credit @ Kragan. Bottom line = It very well my be your problem also.
Hope this helps
Greg
