Hi there,
I have a ford focus estate, x reg and I have a problem with my brake lights.
The light situated on the top of the door illuminates when the pedal is pushed down, so I know the switch is working.
With the brake light assemblies removed from the light housing I found that each had a small plug that distribute the apropriate signals to where they are needed. On each assembly I have measured from the negative earth of the lamp holder and moved the +ve probe of my voltmeter around on the backplate until I found a voltage that was being switched by the brake footpedal. On each side of the car I found a switched supply at 19v dc (which was a higher voltage than I was expecting). This 19v switched supply goes to the plug assembly, but I have no idea where it goes after that. It doesn't get to the required destination..ie my brake light.
Is there a relay that the brake light signal goes through first before going to the light bulb +ve?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
