Default Ford Escort - speedometer stopped working

Hi,

I have a Ford Escort Sedan 2001 with c95k miles on it.

Today the speedometer stopped working. The service engine light came on at the same time. Before completley stopping to work, it made some noise ("whoooo") and then went down to the bottom and stayed there for the last 2 miles of my ride.

I went out to check if the odometer was working or not, and now the speedometer is working, but with the service engine light remaining on.

I think that I need to replace the speedometer sensor - is that correct and if so where can I find a good article showing how to do it?

Cheers,

Amichai
