Default 1996 explorer radio wiring wiring

Hellllp! I have been trying to install a pioneer cd /radio in this truck. Took out the factory CD/Radio. I have tracked down about 5 different sources for wiring diagrams to assist with the correct speaker connections.
Here's the rub...None of them match what is in the explorer. All of the diagrams I have aqquired, including the one I got from the Ford garage, show 8 wires of various color and stripe combinations, depending on the type of radio and speakers used. I am told that in 1996 there were 4 possible combinations. The speaker wire plug assembly attached to the wiring harness in this explorer has 16 wires, And..., None of colors on the plug match what any of the diagrams say is suppose to be in there, But a check of the wires that reached the speakers Do match what is on the diagrams....? WTF?

So I hooked up a multi meter to check continuity from an individual speaker to the plug. Both wires from the left front speaker, gave a reading on the meter from two upper & lower wires on the plug. It should have been one or the other not both...I am thoroughly confused. Also the Ohms dropped bt 25.
Could there be something else wired in between the 16 wire connection at the factory radio plug and the speakers? Has any one else seen this and maybe have a solution. ( Adapter plugs sold to me by best buy, do not fit...).....Help...

i have a 96 explorer, i put a new JVC in it i also have the "premium" JBL audio system in there, the only harness that fits my car is one that runs from the stereo to the back, cost like 60 bucks, so i ran my own speaker wires, and got an adapter for the power portion the long gray plug with like 6 wires in it is the power.. i bypassed the factory amp and all, so it works to a point, i have somethin wired wrong so it cuts out on me when i crank it up real high.. lol shit happens i guess
