I'm sure you are correct !

OK... one last thing.... I just went to AutoZone.com - Get in the Zone! and entered in 1987 ford bronco 5.0 engine as one of my vehicles. I searched for pickup coil and got this...

I searched for ignition control module and got this...

Looking at that ignition control module, I "think" you have a duraspark II ignition system, NOT an early duraspark. SO the problem could also be the ignition control module. With hunting season around the corner, I would either pull that and have it checked or swap it out. It's about $40.
If the second picture is correct, it is a TFI, not Duraspark (of any vintage). Durasparck module are a bit bigger than your fist, mount on the fender and have pigtails. TFI mounts to the side of the distributor.

The 3 pins that come out of the module go up (the picture is upside down) through the distributor base plate and connects to the "profile ignition pickup" (PIP). the first picture does not look like a PIP. Also the TFI/PIP use a shutter wheel.

TFI's have a bad habit of just dieing. But when they stopped, that was it, they are dead.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the knowledge. I replaced the wires, stator, cap and have not had it shut off. Image #2 (module) has been replaced twice. Different brand incase the other one was a bad manuf. model.

It has three fuel pumps. Low pressure in tanks (2) and another under the drivers door (high pressure). All three are new as well.

If this shows again, I will have an entire new distributor put in. Seems to be running fine but need another 100 degree day to test it with.

Running off the rear tank seems to have some issue that leads me to think the gas is bad. I am running it to empty and will refill. It has been in there fo 6+ months. So believe that will clear up as it runs like a champ on the front tank and new gas.

I will post again if it dies. I do have a book under the seat now so I can get some reading done if I am roadside again! Thanks for all the expertise.
