Default 02 Explorer 4WD Door Ajar & Door Lock help

I'm a new-be to this forum and am looking for help with:

2002 Explorer 4WD:
Digonosing the following:

1. Door ajar light stays on when all the doors & lift gate are fully closed.
(the dimmer switch is not in override)

2. When the lock button is hit on the key fob while the drivers side door is open all the doors lock and then the drivers side door will automatically unlock.

3. The beep-beep form the horn when the key fob lock button is hit no longer goes beep-beep.

Any ideas?

2.sounds like it believes the key is still in the ignition.3.will be related to 2.

1.you have a door ajar switch not working properly you can try one at a time spraying some cleaner in each door latch to see if it will clear up.When you figure out which door you will have to take the switch out to clean it properly or just replace it.

Thanks Phantom_Smack,

As far as spraying some cleaner (I persume electronic cleaner) in each door latch, I suspect it should be sparyed in and around the pawl of the latch. Can you recommend the best way if this is not it.

Or, to isolate the bad door agar switch can it be unpluged (one at a time) by removing the inner door panel and unplugging it. I assume the switch is internal to the latch. Is this corrrect, or does it have a seperate connector.

Thanks for the help.
