Default wipers, speedometer, radio, and temp control panel don't work in run

on my 97 taurus the ignition switch circuits burn out when I put in a new one I have put in 2.
the radio, speedometer, tac, wipers, cruise, and temp control panel don't
work when car is in the start position.
but the wipers and radio will work in the accessories position.
what would cause this.

I stopped by a ford dealer ship and asked if thay had any ideas and one guy said to check the transmition range sencer. So I changed it and got nothing. I also went back and checked the ignition switch with a tester. With it in the run position only one of the circets didn't work but I looked at the plug and one of those post didn't have angthing going to it. Does that matter? Sorry about the spelling.

My Haynes manual for my windstar does a surprisingly good job on the ignition switch, if you don't have one, pick one up for the taurus. It has pictures and diagrams.

I can only imagine that the switch should be fused. I don't know how long it takes before it burns out, but could it be that someone replaced a fuse with one that is rated heavier than it should be?

Refer to your owner's manual for what rated fuse should be where.
