Question 1970 F100 turn signal problem

it seems this is a frequent topic here, but here goes...
don't know what else to do since I've been working on this particular issue for 2 weekends and several $$ thrown at it...

the story of the 1970 F100 360, 3 speed:

bought this truck for $500, runs GREAT, tip top sounding and running.
rusty, as expected.
when i purchased it, there only seemed to be a problem with the left turn signals and brake lights not working, so... checked all bulbs, most were burnt out and/or rusted into the sockets.

Replaced all sockets and bulbs all around.

next I removed all non stock wiring from the last 40 years (trailer harness, camper shell lighting, and an after market cruise control set-up) and now have the stock wiring, no frills.

horn didn't work... replaced faulty horn relay, fixed.
replaced the stop lamp switch at the brake pedal.
replaced the instrument panel bulbs.
replaced the turn signal switch with new cam/switch assembly from LMC.all

headlights, tail lights and reverse lights are now fine. brake lamps work too as intended.
up until today i was able to turn on the hazards but now it blows the fuse, every time...this occurred since replacing the signal switch/cam assembly.
also, no turn signals. they worked sporadically the first time or two after the signal switch swap, but each time the lighting was faint, the flash went from faster to slower and eventually out.

bad flasher relays?
other suggestions?

I know the wiring to the rear end is fine since headlights/tail lights/brake lights work... but these damn signal gremlins are nickel and diming this good deal to death...

arghhhhh! help, please.
