Hi everone:
I just bought a new 2009 Ford Focus SE 3 weeks ago. A few days ago I hear a "ding, ding, ding" and the trunk ajar warning appears in the system readout on the dash. But the trunk is closed. We close it several times ... nothing ... the warning persists.
We take it in and they order a trunck switch. Then the next day my wife opens the rear door and puts her groceries in the back, closes the door and gets into the car, turns on the key and ding, ding, ding the red door ajar light comes on and the message "left rear door ajar", but it is closed. We take it in and the guy says it is the door switch. That is weird I thought. The trunk ajar message is not coming on anymore and yet they haven't put in any parts yet. I say there is probably another reason and the young guy at the service desk rudely tells me I don't know what I am talking about. So I go home and go on the internet and find that it could possibly be the CSM - central sensory module. This would explain why we sometimes get a warning sound with no lights or messages and the flip/flop between door sensor alarms. But then this information was for a different model Ford and different year, so not sure. I had to take out the interior light because it wouldn't go out and it is now in my glove compartment with a big gaping hole in the roof where it used to be ... how sad.
Anyway I take the car to work the next day and it is a scorcher. When I get back in and start the ignition ... no dings, no warning lights, no messages. I run a system check ..everything checks out okay. But on the way home, the red door ajar light comes on and the message "left door ajar" reappears. It won't let me run a check and says to close the doors. A few minutes later the light goes out and the message dissappears. I run the check again ... everything it okay, but then a moment later ding, ding, ding ... warning sound but strangely no message or lights ... run a test ... everything is fine. Then the light comes on and "left door ajar" message appears.
I am taking it in next week and will let everyone here know what they find. In the meantime, does anyone have the answer? Do you know what is wrong? If it is the CSM, a certain young service tech owes me an apology.
This should be under warranty. Why are you fooling with it?
