2000 ford excursion ltd, radio and window problems

I have looked, and looked, but i have not found this posted yet.

I have a 2000 ford excursion limited. V10 4x4. About a year ago I started developing issues with the windows and radio not working.

at first the problems were simultaneous. the windows would not work, and the radio would not turn on, however if you turned on your lights, the display would light up.

I have since purchased a relay, and tried switching them around until something worked.

these problems now appear to be unrelated. The radio almost never works, and the windows are intermittent. just before the items DO work, there is a click(a relay).

Any ideas would be helpful.
