My 1998 Explorer keeps locking and unlocking itself. Whenever I park and lock the truck the locks will start cycling themselves which brings on the side mirror lights too. After sitting for 8 hours while I work I come out to a dead battery.
Any help for this?
Any other symptoms warning light, buzzer etc. ?(door ajar)
No other symptoms. Locks just start flipping out, going up and down really fast. Like someone is playing with the remote.
Sometimes it starts right away and goes on for a min or so. Sometimes starts an hour later and just randomly locking and unlocking.
If they are just locking or unlocking (not both) it could be the one of the control/signal wires are shorting to ground. Either rubbed insulation or something the like. But since it;s BOTH. Is it only when the vehicle is off or is it when it;s in motion or both. After long trips. bumpy roads. Any kind of pattern?

Some thing is happening to make the system think you have locked the door with the keys inside. Try working the problem from that angle. Just an idea not an answer.
Good luck
Once again it appears that the ol'wizard may have hit the nail on the head.
Hey wiz,
Take a look at that link, I think you should have linked to your post just above that one.
