Default Charging System Light

Hello,
I have a 2000 Ford Windstar (110,000 miles) and a few weeks ago its electrical system quit. Had it towed to the dealer who said I needed a new alternator & battery. Then had it towed to a local shop who tested the battery and said I didn't need a new battery but did need a new alternator. Had the alternator replaced (with a rebuilt one) and still the "check charging system" light came on. Friend tested the battery and found the voltage low, so we replaced the battery. But the "check charging system" light STILL came on intermittently, so I took it back to the repair shop & he replaced the alternator again (saying maybe the rebuilt alternator was faulty). But now the "check charging system" light is still coming on! Any ideas what this could be?
One additional thing to note: about 2 years ago, my electric locking doors quit working properly - I can't unlock my driver or front passenger door with my remote and my passenger door won't unlock without opening the door with the handle. My sliding passenger doors work OK. Not sure if this is all related.

There are several threads in here about after market alternaters/voltage regulaters. I have personal experience with this. You need to get a Ford alt. I know it may be a little more $$ but the others will not work, and you will continue to have problems. Sorry, been there, done that.
GOOD LUCK
