Default keypad card but no keypad

I just bought a used 2005 Ford Freestar SES. It has a keypad card with the owner's manual and the 5-digit code matches the bar coded sticker near the fuse box. Problem is, there is no keypad on the vehicle. It came with the original window sticker that does not list a keypad as an option or standard equipment. Any ideas why I would have a card/code without a keypad?

Keypads on some newer Fords were actually used wireless remote technology. Sound like yours was "removed".

Look on eBay for a cheap replacement (about $15). I'm pretty certain they are all the same and attach with self-adhesive.

Actually your General Electronics Module (GEM) by the fuse box is also your RKE module too.
It is all setup to work with the hard wired keypad in the door. It just needs to be added.

I added a keypad to my Taurus in May. Was not easy. but possible. MOST ford models after 2000 that have the keyless fobs, have the capability of the keypad. Just no keypad. Taurus /Sable is easy becasue no cutting of the door sheet metal.

The Wireless ones that old wizard speaks of were peal-n-stick.
