Default 2000 Explorer - Driver side squeak!

My 2000 explorer xlt has developed a mean squeak from the front driver side wheel area when I go over bumps (even little speed bumps). It seemed to develop after I took it to a drive-through car wash. I assume it sprayed high pressure water underneath and messed something up. It also has effected the steering as it squeaks as I turn the wheel.
Maybe there is anyother cause? and the car wash is just coincidence?
Any suggestions on what to do?

I put new suspension in the front about 4 months ago, so i don't think it's that. Not sure what else. Don't know too much, any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Did you lubricate the suspension bushings when you installed them 4 months ago?

What type of suspension did you install?

I am not familiar with the Explorer, but it probably has independent front suspension with the upper and lower control arms fitted with rubber bushings. Typically with Ford these bushings do not move and rely on the give in the rubber to allow suspension movement. When these bushings wear out they make a squeaking noise. I would get the bushings checked for excessive cracking and any damage.

For the steering squeaks raise the front of the vehicle and move the steering through lock to lock and check the steering column universal joint for noise. Also the ball joints upper and lower, sometimes replacements need to be greased.

Hope this helps.
