| Engine idle issue I have a 1998 Taurus that was getting a 0340 code before vacation, the code has since cleared itself and now I have no trouble codes!!! I now notice though that the engine idles about 1000 rpm higher than it used to (about 1600-1700) with now trouble codes active. Car ran great from Chicago to Branson and has run well in town. I just hope this new issue doe not cause me problems getting home..... |

| I know this may sound stupid, how do I idle the engine down enough to listen for a vac leak???? I have felt around and feel nothing leaking, YET. |

| you'll sometimes be able to hear the leak at the new idle the engine has chosen. Or you could try spraying just a little throttle body cleaner in the engine at its "idle" and see if the engine revs up. Ford cars are also bad about the IACV plugging up.

| OK, I am home now and have error codes P0340 & P1506... Idle issue is still sporadick, usually problematic when cold, I will restart the car a few times and sometimes it will clear otherwise I will drive that way and then shut down halfway to work and it seems to reset back to normal.(Only 6 miles to work...) |
