| 63 Galaxie trouble restarting I have a 68 galaxie to start it I need to dump a little gas in the carb, then she'll start right up and run forever. but if I shut her down and even try to start it right back up nothing...If I dump some gas, no problem...any Ideas??

| by the way...even when I dump some gas in it takes a while to fire up...cold or warm

| I don't know fishbowl, I'll talk to my dad later and see if he has any ideas.
What if you give the car just one pump on the accelerator?

| Carburated engines can only atomize fuel in the primary venturi. If the fuel is not well atomized much more fuel will be needed. The accelerator pump should take care of that (pump a few times). You may need to rebuild the Carb.
While cranking, the resistor in series with the coil and points is usually bypassed. Make sure there is 12 volts on the + coil terminal or jumper the resistor to test.
Some larger engines have a system to boost ignition timing while cranking. Look into that. |
