Default 2003 Expedition Slipping

I noticed this week that it is slipping when I accelerate from a stop. And it also jerks when slightly press the gas pedal at cruising speed (60mph). Any ideas?

First thing is to check the basics-fluid level and condition of the fluid. Sounds like the internal clutch bands maybe worn. If the fluid condition is less than desireable, there could be a problem with parts sticking in the valve body also. You could try to flush the system, but sometimes that makes things worse. I would take the vehicle to your repair shop for diagnosis. I would let them verify the problem and go from there. If it is a trans related problem, chances are they will tell you the trans will need replaced or rebuilt. How many miles are on the vehicle? When was the last time the vehicle was serviced? These are just suggestions

I had it in to the dealership last week for the 60,000 mile service. Fluids are up and it looks good.

If that is the case, I would probably go back to the dealership to have this checked. That sounds too low of mileage to be having this kind of problem.

Whew! Took it to a transmission place and they found that it wasn't the trany but is something with the engine. It happens when the engine warms up. They recommmended a mechanic a block from my house. (The last time I took my Honda to this trany place they found a small adjustment was all that was needed at no charge, I think I owe them a pizza. They get my business and reference anytime!)

Is the service engine soon or check engine light on?
