| 2005 ford taurus ticking issues!!! I just went outside and tried to crank my car up and it made a weird ticking noise, sounded like it was coming out from under the dashboard. It would not crank up and I think it is a battery issue but when I took the keys out of the ignition, the ticking noise under the dash board could still be heard for about 15 seconds or so. I did this several times and the lights wont turn on but after a few minutes the dome light came on!! What is going on with my car?? It has never done this before, I have had it about 15 months. |

| Check your battery connections. The clicking you heard is just your starter solenoid. They freak out and click because there is not enough power for them to engage and the contacts start flopping. It's possible the solenoid is bad, so if your connections are good, check the battery and then the solenoid.

| Also check to make sure the battery has sufficient voltage to crank the engine. A weak battery can cause the same symptoms. If the battery is questionable, you can take it to a local auto part for testing. After verifying the battery and connections are good, try again to start the vehicle. If the results are the same, then you should check for power at the solenoid. The larger wire will have power at all times. The smaller wire will have power only when the key is turned to the cranking position. (The starter is located at the front of the engine compartment- radiator side - below the exhaust manifold. It is bolted to the transmission bell housing) If you are getting the proper power to the solenoid and still have the same problem, I would remove the starter and have tested by auto parts store. (At this point I would bet that the starter solenoid is bad---come with new starter) Good luck
