Default 94' 3.2 SH coolant leak, please help.

ok before i pull this engine i have a question. i have coolant leaking low near the crank pulley on passenger side, there is one lone 5/16 bolt her and it looks as if a covor of some sort has a an L shaped mold on the side to keep it tight. there was coolant leaking from the sport were the two parts come togather, i am not new to cars, but i have never worked on a Yamaha motor before but does any body know why this is leaking or what it is. it is on the left side of the crank shaft pulley about 1 inch at 10/11 o'clock about from side veiw. the bolt was wicked lose so i tightend it but do not under stand how this makes the seal on the gasket get tight if it is tightened from the side not tourqed from the top. any ways i tightend it and it got a little bit better but not much and when ever i get to a destanation the car will spew out coolant vapor from under the passenger side of the hood and wheel well. but my thermostat stays at the lower part of normal temp, really close to the C. and i knew the thermo stat to be fully funciotnal as well. please help me. i will be buying a shop manual soon but you guys (girls) are also helpfull. thanx

If you have the tools to pressure test the cooling system , I would try that with the engine cold and try to find the leak. There are several possible problems, but you are going to have to verify where the coolant is leaking. Check around all the hoses, clamps, and waterpump area. A telescoping mirror and a flashlight would also help.
