Talking 2000 Windstar stalling problem

My 2000 windstar has a weird stalling problem. When you start the engine on cold days you can hear something making a chirping noise. It's not constant. Then with no warning it makes a loud chirp and stalls. It will start right back up. Only happens when engine is cold. I took it to my local Mechanic who replaced the idler pully, then the power steering pump. Still same problem. Today I removed the belt and started the engine and with only the crank pully turning it made the chirping noise. Anyone familiar with this??

get a mechanic's stethoscope to find where the chirping noise is coming from.

I believe those motors have a syncronizer(kinda takes the place of the distributor to drive the oil pump)those are notorious for squeeking. You can use a screwdriver to listen with if you dont have a stethescope

Thanks guys. I took the belt off and ran the motor so only the crank pully was spinning, and the chirping is definately comming from there. What I need to know now is, is there some kind of bearing there that can go bad? Where is the syncronizer located? I see a white gear behind the pully, is that it? Any help would be appreciated.

Default white gear

I believe the white gear behind the crank pulley is their for cam timing which if you look their will be sensor(hall effect). This will not cause the squealing that is present. Which motor is in the vehicle? Have you had it scanned and aree their any current or pending codes?

It's a 3.8 with 71000 miles. Had it scanned, but no codes are showing.

I had a chirping, it was my Alternator. When it blew I replaced it and no noise now.
