Default Ac Compressor

two questions.

I have a 95 ford thunderbird 3.8l LX.

4 hours after i bought it i opened up my hood and the serpentine belt snapped, And smoke was coming out of the AC compressor. Now i have the serpentine around the main frame and not the ac compressor. anyway. Since smoke was coming out of the ac compressor does that mean i need a new one. cause ill get a new one if i have too.

so the questions are..

what other years for the thunderbird's ac compressors fit mine. are there other years that fit my 95?

and since the ac compressor was smoking does it mean its bad.?

thanx.

Still need help? Keep in mind, if you replace the compressor you should replace the accumulator/receiver dryer. Also you might be able to pick up an A.C. compressor bypass pulley at your local auto parts store to get you by. I had to put on a friends car just to get him by. Also check your local auto salvage, they can check what’s inner changeable from make, model and year.

The compressor on your car is a very commonly used one, but I would not recommend a used one. If you are wanting to fix the a/c I would change the compressor with a NEW unit, flush the system, replace the accumulator, and replace the orfice tube. If you are just trying to get by for the time being, I would check into a by-pass assembly from a local auto parts store.

Is The Compressor Bad Or Is It Just The Clutch Bearing Which Is Replaceable With Out Replaceing The Compressor.
