Red face 1997 Escort zetec 1,6 16v misfire!

Hi I have done a head job on the 16valve 1600 motor after a overheating problem caused by a faulty water pump. Changed cam followers as recommended, fitted new oil filter and 10w40 Edge oil. Changed all the plugs back and forth, changed the plug wires but cant locate the cause of the misfire. The fault jumps from cylinder to cylinder every time you start the motor. PP-Please assist
Alf

How are you checking which cylinder is misfiring?

I am testing by disconnecting one plug lead at a time and checking engine speed, also pulled the injector connection's and checked for rpm change.

faulty ignition coil module caused this aggravation. it had cracked and was tracking to earth I found it in the dark as i thought i could hear a strange noise and there it was. Escort 16v 1600 cc machines --remember thin oil sae 10w 40 for south African conditions any other oil is to thick for the cam followers on the motors.
