How do I remove the Timing Chain Cover and do I have to take off the balancer to do so. Is this a big job?

You realy need to get a manual hanes or chilton. You have to take of the balancer with a puller and it is a fairly big job.

You will have to remove most of the accessory brackets, the water pump, the balancer, and there are also some bolts in the oil pan that will have to be removed. If you decide to tackle this project yourself, plan on using the whole day and maybe more. Be aware that the bolts going through the waterpump into the timing cover are also known for breaking off in the cover/block due to rust and corrosion. It is not so much a hard job as it is a time consuming job. As suggested prior to myself, get a repair manual.
