Default Howl
Whenever I drive off in my explorer this odd howling noise emits out during take off and goes away when speed builds up. What may be a possible cause???

Does it only howl at idle? Does it sound like a freight train?

Go to your IAC (Idle air controler), and pull off this black cap. It is located on the driver's side of the intake.

After pulling the cap, it will look like this


Did the howl stop? If it did, you either need to clean your IAC or replace it.

It means it's weird

Does it sound like the howl is coming from the IAC?

Alright, I ask because that usually creates a freight-train type howl when it goes bad/needs to be cleaned, it's just pulling that cap off usually stops it
