Default '89 Probe stalls when warm

My '89 Probe 2.2 non turbo starts and runs fine untill it is warmed up, at this time it will stall as soon as you lift your foot off the gas. You can restart it but you have to keep it revving at about 2000 rpm, any less, it stalls. A " car mechanic" suggested to change the throttle body which I did, this made no difference at all. Could be I got a dud throttle body, it was used, or the problem is something else. Please help me I'm going nuts with frustration. I am a motorcycle mechanic but have little knowledge of car electronics.
Thanks, Old Racer.

I never had a probe, but I have a '90 bronco. I suspect that there are very strong similarities in the EFI and computer systems.
The engines and the fuel delivery systems are computer controlled.
Please see the thread I wrote about how to check for diagnostic trouble codes. That will give you a starting point of which sensors or actuators that may be involved in your problem.

Sounds like a vaf problem,(vane air flow)takes the place of a mass airflow sensor.I thought it has some sort of idle switch for a kicker motor on the throttle body. We have no books that far back and I never worked on many Probes.

hmmm, never heard of VAF, I was thinking along the lines of IAC Idle air control valve, or possibly TPS throttle position sensor I had similar problems with my bronco with a flaky MAP sensor. OR a biggie... vacuum leaks.
Before pulling codes one should check for vacuum leaks.

Checking for vacuum leaks, and pulling codes are probably the best starting points.
