Unhappy 95 F150 fuel pump keeps going out

We have to replace the fuel pump in our 1995 f150 with the 300 inline 6 cyl. engine almost weekly. We put one of the Discount Auto Parts limited lifetime warranty pumps in and after going through 3 in about 2 1/2 weeks, we paid the difference and got one of the higher priced pumps. It lasted less than a week and the replacement for that one lasted less than 4 days. What is going on? Why are fuel pumps going out that quickly?

Internal fuel pumps are cooled by fuel. If you run your tank low a lot then the pump will get hotter than normal and lessen it's life. Heard also that these pumps don't like plugged filters either but this is up for debate I would watch the fuel level and fill at no less than quarter tank.

Improper voltage (too high, too low). Bad ground ?

yeah... I'm with the oldwizard on that.

I'm pretty sure that the ground for it fuel pump is either on the driver's side radiator support, or driver's side under the dash, either near or behind the side kick panel.
