| 2000 ranger 4.0 spark plug question I just changed the plugs on my 4.0 and noticed something interesting and am wondering if anyone here can offer up an answer.
After pulling all the plugs and inspecting them, I noticed that the 3 on the passenger side were really worn bad. The electrodes were almost down to the ceramic resulting in a *big* gap. far larger than OEM specs. the plugs on the driver side were worn some, but not anything to write home about. No discoloration or signs of fouling. they all looked really heathy except for the elecrtode wear. These were the Motorcraft OEM plugs with about 70K on them, The motor is at about 100K
The motor ran awesome before the plug change and runs the same now. I replaced with Bosch platinum plugs.
Why the uneven wear? |
