Default Y Block Vs. Others? Opinions needed!!

Will you guys share some opinions on Y block motors. Price comparison vs other motors, performance comparisons, how are they to maintain, etc... Specifically the 292 in a galaxie. I have done research, but have not found many specific opinions. The more posts the better. I need to decide wether to keep original 292 or replace with something better. Got a 4 door no one seems to want, so I might as well keep it and get it runnin for myself.

Default y blocks

I've had several y blocks in my past. 57 Fords 272 292 312. All were quite reliable and easy to work on. From a purist standpoint I would stick with what you got. Really brings back good memories. Thanks. Probably more after market stuff for other engines. USA is the greatest

If you can find replacement parts, I'd keep it as original as possible. If not, I'd dump a nasty stroker motor in it and scare all the local import guys. Either way, good fun and thanks for preserving the old iron
