Angry 2005 F-150 40,000 Transmission blown

Anyone know if there is any type of underwritten warranty or if Ford stands behind their products and assumes the responsibilty of a bad transmission? My truck has little over 40,000 miles and just died the other day. It started out very slow with putting it in drive and taking about 15-20 seconds to kick into gear to driving it a second time in the same day and none of the gears working at all. I take care of my truck and have only towed a smaller boat so its seems odd for the tranny to has such a problem.

ANy guidance would be much appreciated.

The days of "good will" warranty "extensions" are long gone ! They lost over $8B in the first half of the year. They are not feeling "generous".

Read your warranty carefully. I think that there is either a 50,000 or 100,000 mile Powertrain warranty on your vehicle, but it has big loop holes. Still, it is worth it to know what leverage you have on your side.

If you are the original owner and are close to being within 36 months of the original sale, ask if they will sell you an extended warranty plan and pre-mileage it ! I know this has been done before !!
