90 Ranger Low oil PSI and Blown out plugs. Hey, new guy here I searched around a bit for an answer to my problem on google and came to this site. I drive a 1990 Ford Ranger with a 2.3L engine. It's been running great up until a few weeks ago. I noticed a substancial drop in the oil pressure, still within acceptable limits (according to the gauge) but it was much lower than it had been previously. I figured it was either the gauge going bad, seeing as the whole side of my cluster where the oil gauge is dosn't work properly anyway. However, last night I was driving to work and I could feel a misfire, about 3 minutes later it blew a spark plug out. The plug was COMPLETELY melted it blew the porcelin piece out but the metal with the nut is still in the head (I believe). Anyway I noticed as soon as it blew that plug out the oil pressure went right back up to normal range ( where it was a few weeks ago). I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the plug blowing out, I just purchaced the truck so I'm not sure when the last time the plugs were changed. I was just wondering if the oil psi and the plug could have anything in common, or it's just a bad coincidence. I've yet to take a look at the truck, it's still sitting on the side of the interstate until I get it towed back to the house later. Any input would be appreciated, I really dont think I want to spend the time, effort, or money to change the head or do major valve work if that may be the case. Anyway thanks. |
