Default 01 Focus - throttle body assembly
The "check engine" light came on and the Ford dealer diagnosed the problem as needing a new throttle body assembly in my 01 Ford Focus. However, he stated that this part is no longer available anywhere. Nowhere. Period.

Is this true? Can anyone give me a suggestion as to my next step? We really like this car and it seems wrong somehow that a car this young should be sidelined permanently because no one has a part for it.

I think hes saying that you cant get them new. You can go to a junk yard a see if there is a wrecked 2001 Focus you can take the throttle body off of. Search ebay, or any other online store that may have it.

Also, was this from a dealership? or a smaller repair shop?
I'm kinda skeptical that there is absolutely NO 2001 Focus throttle bodys laying around.
John Deere provides me with brand new parts for a 1949 tractor.... there shouldn't be ANY part you cant get for a 2001 anything.

2000-2003 Focus Throttle Valve Body

There is one on ebay, but it seems kinda sketchy.. only one picture and it's a generic picture at that. If you decide to bid on that part and it is a scam, you can not hold me accountable for it. Be REALLY careful when perchasing anything online.

Why do you need a new throttle body anyways? Did he explain what was wrong with it? Do you notice any performance problems? Did they print out or tell you what the "check engine" code was? Unless it's cracked, I dont see anything that could go wrong with that particular throttle body it looks pretty solid and basic. Being $250+ I would make sure that was my problem. Nice find tho Joe.

(And no, I won't hold anyone but myself responsible for an online purchase - if I behaved in such an immature fashion I am certain the ghost of Sr Mary Bertha would come back to haunt me, and THAT is too scary to even think about.)

If you have the same problem or similar just start a new post if the old one never gave an answer or seems dated. What is the Tb doing that you need to replace it paul?

If you have intermittant running problems or a flat spot/buck/dying/cutting out while accelerating.
Do your self a favor and try some dedicated gas
line dryer, Double or even triple dose it, It's cheaper
then throwing parts at a problem that doesn't throw
codes!!
